Kansas City
No passengers. No excuses. Every stroke bleeds.
Kansas City is here.
The golf game that refuses to let anyone hide. Every hole, two points on the line — your team’s best ball and worst ball both count. That ugly 7 matters. That grinding bogey-save matters. Nobody coasts.
Matches run until someone goes up 3, then reset — new teams, new money, new war. A birdie, a milestone, a comeback can stack your multiplier to 5× fast.
Full handicap. COD rotations. No dead money.
KC doesn’t let you hide. That’s the point.
Set Up the Round
Pick your course, your players, and the KC settings. Per-player tees and full handicap pops are built in.
Name the Round
Auto-defaults to “Kansas City — Friday 05/22” so you can find it later. Override if your group has its own name for the day.
4 or 5 Players
Add names directly, or pull from My Players if your regulars are saved. 5-player rounds run 2v3 with the small team paying 1.5×.
Pick the Course
Three ways in: My Courses (your starred favorites), Nearby (location-based), or Search by name.
Default Tee
Every tee from the course is pulled live — Bear, Nicklaus, Blue, Ranch, you name it. Set a default; override per player.
KC Settings
Starting Hole, Total Holes, and Press Every N Holes (default 3). Start on 10? The round wraps: 10 → 18 → 1 → 9.
Per-Player Tees & Pops
The money shot for KC: each player gets their own tee and pop count, and the app tells you exactly which holes the strokes land on. Full handicap pops — this is where that gets real.
Start the First Match
Set the base bet, pick teams. The sheet opens on hole 1 — and again every time a match ends.
Base Bet
The per-point stake before any multipliers. 5-player rounds enforce an even base bet so the 1.5× never rounds.
Pick Team A
Tap two players for Team A — the rest fall into Team B automatically. The app records who’s on which team and tracks every point from there.
4-Man: COD Rotation
Carts, Opposites, Drivers. Off the app, throw balls and pick your starting letter. Partners rotate every match — nobody gets a comfortable alliance.
5-Man: Throw Balls
Closest two form the small team — they play for 1.5× per player. The three-man big team only counts best ball + worst ball; middle ball means nothing. Back-to-back small-team protection keeps nobody sacrificed twice in a row.
Score a Hole
Three holes from one match — watch the bet circle climb as the multiplier stacks.
Hole 1 · $10
Enter scores per player — auto-label shows Par / Bogey / Birdie. The yellow Match card tracks score (+1), multiplier badges, and current bet. Match scoreboard below: Barry & Sstory 1 · Mac & Greco 0.
Hole 2 · $20
Mac and Greco’s pops kick in (note “1 stroke” under their names). Nets flip the hole, the badge updates to +1 flip, and the bet doubles to $20. Round Totals start showing red.
Hole 3 · $30
Greco birdies. Multiplier locks at 3× (1 birdie + 1 flip). Mac & Greco take the match 4–1 (lead by 3) — the card reads “Mac & Greco won.” Round Totals: Barry & Sstory each −$30.
What you’re looking at
The yellow Match card is your live scoreboard: bet, score, multiplier badges, who’s leading. The Matches strip shows every match in the round at a glance — tap History for the breakdown. Round Totals always show net dollars across all completed matches. Pops are surfaced inline (“1 stroke” under a player’s name on a hole they get a stroke on) — no mental math.
Match Ends, Next Match Begins
A team goes up by 3 (or the round runs out of holes). The slate wipes — new teams, new money, new war.
Match-End Gate
The app gates the next hole behind a “Set Up Next Match” prompt — you can’t accidentally score into a dead match. Round Totals already reflect the payout.
Slate Wipes Clean
New match, new teams (notice Mac and Barry swapped sides — that’s COD in action), new base bet ($10, defaults to previous). Match card resets. The Matches strip keeps every match for history.
What stacks the multiplier
- Birdies — every under-par stroke by anyone in the match adds 1× (eagle = +2, multiple birdies on the same hole all count).
- 3-hole milestones — +1 each time the match survives past hole 3, 6, 9… (relative to match start). Configurable at round creation.
- Flips — +1 each time a team that was down comes back to take the lead.
Inside a Match
Tap History on any match row for the full audit — every point sourced, every multiplier explained.
The Multiplier Math
Top-card chips spell it out: $10 base × 3 = $30. The 1 birdie + 0 presses + 1 flip stat row sources every point of multiplier.
Hole-by-Hole Points
Running score (1–0, 1–2, 1–4) on the right of each hole. L / H badges show which ball earned each point — low ball vs low ball, high ball vs high ball.
Net Arrows
4→3, 5→4 on hole 2 — pops applied. Gross score on the left, net after stroke on the right. The handicap math is on the card.
Inline Event Badges
+1 flip shows up on hole 2 where it triggered. +1 bird · Greco on hole 3. The multiplier story lives on the timeline, not buried in a footnote.
Margin Doesn’t Matter
Mac & Greco won 4–1. A 3–0 sweep would’ve paid the same $30. Win by enough, not by more.
The Scorecard
The round-wide view. Color-coded cells, pop indicators, and the KC net at the bottom.
Classic Layout
Front 9 + Back 9 grids in the format every golfer reads instantly. OUT / IN / TOTAL / TO PAR exactly where you expect them.
Color-Coded Cells
Orange for over par, green for under, big green pill for birdies, red for doubles. The gradient tells the round’s story at a glance.
Pop Indicators
Dots and circles mark exactly which cells got a stroke. The handicap math is on the card, not in your head.
Kansas City · Net
Bottom of the card. The bridge between “how I played” and “what I won.” Tap Share top-right to render the scorecard as an image and drop it in the group chat.
Round Complete
Final standings ordered by money — not by score. That’s the punchline.
The KC Punchline
Look at the standings. Greco shot +8 to par and won $120. Sstory shot +5 — three strokes better — and lost $100. That asymmetry is the entire point of Kansas City. You don’t get paid for a pretty card. You get paid for showing up when your team needs a ball.
Final Standings
Ordered by net dollars across every match in the round. The leaderboard you actually care about.
Every Match, Preserved
Tap History on any match to drill back into the hole-by-hole detail from Inside a Match. Nothing gets lost.
Escape Hatches
View & Share Scorecard exports the round to an image. Edit Last Hole rolls back the inevitable “wait, Mac had a 5 not a 4” moment.
It’s match play with teeth. And it never lets up.
